To attain my intended goals, I have always pushed my synaptic limitations, worked hard, and exceeded expectations throughout my school and professional lives. I feel I am ready to take the next significant step in my career as project management and analytics specialist. A graduate degree would not only improve my subject knowledge, but will also assist me in achieving my professional objectives and reaching the pinnacle of success in the future. This has inspired me to seek a master's degree in management information systems (MIS) at Name of the University.
I worked on numerous programming languages and studied areas like Operating Systems and Computer Graphics during my undergraduate studies in Computer Science and Engineering (2014-2018). There, I worked on the capstone project, which involved creating a home automation system based on IoT, which allowed me to manage the room temperature, house lighting, and other functions using Android devices. To complete this goal, I had to develop a programme in Python, which I was unfamiliar with at the time, as well as learn how to use the Arduino GPU, both of which I mastered through sheer perseverance and drive. Apart from gaining invaluable practical knowledge and research experience, my efforts paid off when the project was well-received and received praise from both the Faculty and my peers, whetting my appetite for more hands-on experience and developing projects that could positively contribute to the contemporary's smart human experience.
Furthermore, when I hosted a Hackathon in college, I learned that managing technological initiatives appealed to me more than coding. As a result of my newfound enthusiasm, I began looking for positions where I might obtain relevant experience after completing my undergraduate degree. As a result, I was hired as an IT Project Coordinator at Yatra Online Private Limited in Gurugram, where I was responsible for tracking project progress and maintaining communication between stakeholders and development teams. Furthermore, I dealt with enormous datasets, which is how I learned about Data Science and Analytics, and my interest prompted me to learn more about Analytics. My manager suggested that I work with the data science team and understand the practical parts of data analytics after noticing my enthusiasm for it. In fact, to broaden my knowledge, I completed Analytics certifications from companies like IBM and Cognitive Classes while working on commercial projects that put what I learned in the workshops and classes to the test.
Next, using my knowledge of Python, Monet DB, Pandas, Flask, HTML, CSS, and other Data Visualisation tools, I created and deployed an API and Dashboard for automating the updating of discount numbers on production, which proved to be extremely useful during COVID-19, when a few employees had been laid off and my company was experiencing a severe labour shortage. I have worked on a project that included allocating real-time discounts to over 60k hotels across India while optimising overall transaction value by 2% and burning less discount by 3%; this entire flow was automated using Python Pandas, Pyomo, and BARON.
My involvement in diverse fields has benefited me in two ways: first, I was able to harness my time management, leadership, and oratory skills, which will come in handy during my graduate studies; and second, I was inspired to contribute significantly to my field of expertise through scientific research after interacting with some of the most experienced engineers and research scholars at work. This is where your University's graduate degree in my chosen field comes in handy. As a result of the foregoing facts, I am familiar with programming languages such as Python and SQL, as well as tools such as Excel, NumPy, Panda, and others. As a seasoned project management professional, I've gained an in-depth understanding of the project lifecycle, stakeholder management, leadership alignment, scheduling cadences and maintaining project plans, delivering within cross-functional teams, and successfully chartering project and execution strategies, all of which I'm confident will be useful in my MIS programme, given my proclivity for Project Management, which I plan to pursue as an MS elective, along with Data Analytics.
My college education was not without its ups and downs. My grades deteriorated slightly as a result of my medical condition of having a 'Hernia.' But, thanks to my tenacity, I was able to compensate for my lacklustre grades by completing actual projects and certificates. I was a basketball, health, and music fanatic throughout high school and college, participating in Math Olympiads, various arts and craft workshops, and state-level basketball contests. In addition, I performed at the World Culture Fest in New Delhi in 2016, where I demonstrated my guitar talents. Apart from my professional obligations, I try to give back to the community by teaching impoverished children how to play the guitar, participating in blood donation camps, and raising awareness and finances for cattle welfare.
I now want to pursue a graduate school in management and data analytics in the United States. After careful consideration, I've discovered that the MS in MIS degree provides the ideal blend of Project Management and Data Science. The Name of the University's active research initiatives, state-of-the-art campus facilities, current courses, experienced instructors, and world-class research infrastructure have compelled me to apply to the MIS graduate programme at your esteemed university. The possibility of learning things like adding here excites me. Furthermore, I am looking forward to working under the names of 2-3 professors and writing 1-2 lines on their work in order to broaden my knowledge.
At this point, a full-time MS programme is a critical link in realising my professional aspirations. Following my Master's degree, I plan to seek a PhD and continue my study in ABC - to improve process efficiency and shorten operational times. In the long run, I envision myself utilising my learnings and skill sets in the domains of business analytics, project management, and data analysis to improve current company processes and bring about 'Business Transformation.'
I hope that the graduate Admissions Committee will consider my application positively, and I look forward to joining your excellent University's MS cohort in the Fall of 2021.
