The Dorothy Marchus Senesh Fellowship provides two biennial fellowships awarded to two women from the developing world for studies in the field of peace for in-person degrees at a university with an accredited program.  These two fellowships are awarded every other year.  Larry Senesh (now deceased), a professor of Economics at the University of Colorado at Boulder, established this Fellowship in memory of his wife. The first award was made at the IPRA 25th Anniversary conference, July 1990, in Groningen, The Netherlands and has been made biennially ever since. 

Every other year two women receive school expenses in the amount of $5,000 per year for two years.

Awards are considered based on need; therefore, students with substantial funding sources are less likely to be considered for the award.

• 3 Letters of Recommendation (recommenders must email letters directly to Ms. Crystal Money.)

• List the names and addresses of three (3) references you have asked to write a letter of recommendation on your behalf.  
• Two of these references should be from academic sources and one should be a professional reference.  None of the references can be from a family member.  
• Be sure to select references who are in a position to comment competently on your abilities, not only in terms of graduate study, but also in terms of application of your studies to the situation in your own country.  The letters of recommendation should be submitted on letterhead or from a verifiable university email account and must mention the applicant’s name.  
• Letters of recommendation from IPRA Foundation members of the Board of Directors will not be accepted or considered.
• Have each reference email their letter of recommendation directly to Ms. Liz De Araujo at the email address listed below.   Please do not include letters of recommendation with your application; the letters of recommendation must be sent directly by the recommender.

• How would you specifically focus the two-year fellowship program?  Describe your proposed area of concentration, possible thesis topic, and so on
• List your work experience from completion of secondary school to the present.
• Describe any professional and volunteer experience in the area of peace, conflict resolution, development, and other areas that you see as related to peace and development.
• Describe any other experience that might be applicable to your chosen field.
• What are your future career plans and how do you see graduate work assisting you in this?  
• Where do you plan to work after completing your degree?
• List professional societies, civic, and other organizations of which you are a member, and positions held, if any.
• Indicate your native tongue.  List other languages you read and/or speak and indicate degree of proficiency (poor, good, proficient).   Do you speak the language of the country where you intend to do your research?
